UNC Wilmington
From NCAA Wiki
University of North Carolina Wilmington is located in Wilmington, North Carolina. Its mascot is the Seahawks.
UNCW entered Division 1 competition in 1977. Despite less than 30 years in Division 1 and being the most underfunded of the 16 UNC system schools, UNCW has experienced unprecedented growth to its athletic program. UNCW has always put academics first for its athletes which has especially become clear of late. UNCW's basketball team made the "academic final 4" this past year, according to HigherEd.com, ahead of such schools as George Washington and Duke. The athletic program as a whole is #1 academically in the UNC system amongst UNC-Chapel Hill, UNC-Charlotte, NC State, etc. In 2004, UNCW placed in the top 10 in the nation in athlete graduation rate among DI schools. The student truly comes before the athlete at UNCW.
Of course, however, the athletic programs have also made the school proud in numerous sports. Between UNCW's 2002 men's basketball upset over USC in the NCAA tournament, UNCW men's soccer's upset over the then-# 1 team in the nation, UNC-Greensboro in 2005, UNCW baseball's 4 consecutive 40-win seasons in 2003, 2004, 2005 and 2006, javelin thrower Anna Raynor's run for the national championship, and numerous other success stories in men's and women's swimming & diving, golf, track & field, and other sports, UNCW is quickly building a tradition of athletic success as well as academic success. The following is just the tip of the iceberg in UNCW sports, with far more to come.
- NOTEWORTHY 2006 ACCOMPLISHMENTS:

25 wins in basketball and 40 wins in baseball:
Texas - basketball (30-7); baseball (41-21)
