Rutgers

With more than 50,000 students on campuses in Camden, Newark, and New Brunswick/Piscataway, Rutgers is one of the nation's major state universities. Chartered in 1766, it has a unique history as a colonial college, a land-grant institution, and a state university. Its 30 degree-granting units offer majors in over 100 fields and thousands of courses. Rutgers has the oldest Collegiate Football program in the nation. Rutgers beat Princeton in the first intercollegiate football, which was played in 1869. The Mascot is the Scarlet Knights.
