In May of 2006,North Carolina Central University accepted an invite to join the MEAC, NCCU will become a full member in 2010, while WSSU will become full member in 2009.

Winston Salem State officially accepted an invite to Join the MEAC. The Rams will be moving up to Division I from the CIAA (Division II) The Rams won't be a full member until July 1, 2009
