The Georgia Institute of Technology, founded on October 13, 1885, is a public school located in Atlanta, Georgia.

Academics:
Georgia Tech is widely considered an academic powerhouse, and is home to world class programs in various aspects engineering and computing. The Industrial Engineering program is often considered the best in the world by US News and World Report. Tech also offers very good programs dealing with mathematics, architecture, management, and economics. Georgia Tech offers very few liberal arts majors, and focuses very heavily on science and mathematics. Tech is also known for graduating a large number of minority students, and often ranks in the Top 3 in the Nation in engineering degrees granted to minorities.

Athletics:
Tech's mascot is the Yellow Jacket, known as Buzz. Tradition is rich throughout the program, with the Ramblin' Wreck being one of the most famous traditions in collegiate sports. Tech is Top 10 all time program in football wins and bowl appearances. Though they have not enjoyed the long storied success of the football program, the men's basketball, volleyball, golf, and baseball programs have all enjoyed Top 25 success and runs at National Championships since 2000, and frequently in the last two decades.

Rivalries:
Tech's major rival is Georgia ("Clean Old Fashioned Hate"), but also includes rivalries with Clemson ("Battle of I-85"), Virginia, Auburn, and Notre Dame.
