East Carolina University is located in Greenville, North Carolina. Founded in 1907, it is home to the second largest undergraduate student body in North Carolina. ECU also features one of the top medical schools in the country in the Brody School of Medicine at Pitt County Memorial Hospital. The University's nickname is the Pirates because of the strong history of piracy along the North Carolina coast. East Carolina plays all sports in the East Division of C-USA. East Carolina has rivals in Southern Miss, UCF, Marshall and West Virginia but their fiercest rival is North Carolina State, who they play on a semi-regular basis. East Carolina's biggest rival in baseball is North Carolina Wilmington (Another baseball rival is William and Mary). Historically, the Pirates have had rivalries with Virginia Tech, which will be renewed in the future and Appalachian State which will be renewed soon.
