Alabama State

Alabama State University is located in Montgomery, Alabama. The University was founded in 1867 by nine former slaves in Marion, Ala. as Lincoln Normal School of Marion, a private school for the education of blacks. In 1873 the name was changed to Alabama State. Its mascot is the Hornets.
